Theology

Catholic doctrine, justification, and Sacred Tradition

Dr. Sungenis' theological scholarship has significantly shaped modern Catholic catechesis. His 2008 article "The Old Covenant: Revoked or Not Revoked?" led to the U.S. bishops correcting a doctrinal error in the Adult Catechism, and his detailed works on justification, Scripture, and the Mass remain standard apologetic references.

His scholarship has had a major impact on Catholic catechesis, especially in the United States. The 2008 article led the U.S. bishops to vote 234 to 14 (with one abstention) to remove an erroneous sentence from the USCCB's Catholic Catechism for Adults. The change was approved by the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in 2009.

His books Not By Faith Alone (740 pages), Not By Scripture Alone (750 pages), and Not By Bread Alone (500 pages) are among the most detailed and comprehensive Catholic responses to Protestant doctrines.

Science & Cosmology

Challenging modern cosmological assumptions

Dr. Sungenis has contributed extensively to the dialogue between science and theology. His documentary The Principle (2014) and his three-volume work Galileo Was Wrong: The Church Was Right challenge prevailing cosmological assumptions.

As Executive Producer, he released The Principle, which premiered in AMC and Regal theaters through mid-2015. The film challenged the Copernican Principle, presenting an alternative view suggesting the Earth may hold a central and privileged position.

"A truly magnificent work. There exists no better exposition of the history and science of geocentrism. Very highly recommended and a must for all those interested in the issues surrounding geocentrism today."

—Gerardus Bouw, Ph.D., Astronomy, Case Western Reserve University

Biblical Scholarship

Exegetical commentary on the New Testament

Dr. Sungenis recently completed a 20-year project producing the Commentary on the Catholic Douay-Rheims New Testament, a four-volume, 3,000-page exegetical work praised for bridging rigorous scholarship with practical teaching.

This represents the first Catholic commentary in history to apply a consistent grammatical-historical approach to the text, enabling modern Catholics to defend the faith directly from the original languages of Scripture.

"After a year of testing in parish and classroom contexts, I can attest that Sungenis has produced something genuinely valuable—a commentary that bridges serious scholarship with pastoral utility while remaining grounded in Catholic tradition."

—Fr. Jeffrey Langan, Ph.D., Former Professor at Notre Dame

Commendations

"Catholic Apologetics International has been instrumental in deepening my understanding of the faith through rigorous scholarship and accessible teaching."

Sean Naughton

"The work of CAI in defending Catholic truth through both theology and science is unparalleled in today's apologetics landscape."

Dr. Michael Thompson

"Supporting CAI means supporting the intellectual defense of our faith for future generations. Their work is invaluable."

Maria Rodriguez

"Looking through a large book of pictures of the galaxies from the Hubble telescope, it was a little scary to see an almost infinite universe filled with millions of stars, planets, etc. And even though my faith in the Providence of God and His direction of all things is strong, nevertheless it made me feel uneasy. But after viewing the DVD's "Journey to the Center of the Universe", a great peace came over me seeing how the Earth IS the center and all the celestial bodies revolve around it – "and it is at rest". God truly holds us in His hand. Even not grasping the technical language of the experiments shown – it give great peace and confidence in God."

Sister Elizabeth

"I hope your DVD's on Geocentricism ("Journey to the Center of the Universe") and also "How the world was created in 6 days" will be spread far and wide so that everyone can know and understand the truth that we are very specially centrally placed in the universe; and to understand how God really did create everything for man and did not just stand off and watch things happen from afar. It makes so much sense, and brings one closer to God. Also in light of the earth being made for Jesus Christ to become Incarnate, it just makes so much sense and is a foundation for the rest of our faith! Thank you for your time and efforts to make these truths available for the greater honor and glory of God!"

"Who would have thought that the homo-pocalypse would be pocket-size and around 250 pages long. A work of art done at the height of mental capabilities, something that we will likely not see again, mostly because of the brain damage that Robert must have been endured by virtue of reading through the answered material. The mere thought of reading through several hundred pages of some pervert old man inserting his sexual fetishes into the Bible is enough to make me go mad, let alone having to dissect it to briefly explain why sentences like "the sky is blue" are not filled with deep, clear hidden sexual euphemisms. Said answers are not only merciless and on-point, but are extremely funny. The wild beating of the homo-apology is given the tone of mockery and humiliation that it deserves. The collection of fun little facts about homosexuals, and the constant putrid homosexual scandals among the clergy is the cherry on top. My only gripe is that the book is not one of the massive, over 700 pages long tomes, but I guess if that were the case the FBI would already be knocking at the door of whoever owns it. Thanks for the book, it should also be offered to seminaries, since clearly many of them need them."
